Mery Christmas from Mac

The doggie stocking has a present for me and my new sister Lucy.

Just like a baby, Lucy enjoys the package MORE than the gift.

Pure fun... what a cutie.

BUT... watch this kid: this is how you enjoy a new Christmas bone.

Merry Christmas from Mac the Labradoodle!

Awwwwwww

Not a tug-o-war as it might seem, but rather, two sisters contentedly chewing on their side of the bone.

Now... that's true friendship!

Morning on the Veranda

Lucy is on the porch excited about her brand new day! The wonderfully cool autumn weather has brought some new smells to explore.

Mac politely waits for the "yes" before she opens the screened door leading outside to the porch. What a polite lady she is!

Mac Welcomes Lucy

Today, Lucy arrived! Mac extended a paw and well-loved "Froggie" as a gesture of good will.

Both dogs enjoyed chewing their new bones... on opposite sides of the room. Soon, however, they will become best friends and will chew side-by-side!

Neighborhood Dog Show

Our neighborhood bank has an annual "Mutt Strut" dog show. Mac had a difficult time time choosing the best category... or as one of Mac's boys said, "dog-egory". After careful consideration, "Best Trick" was selected even with the knowledge that Mac could have difficulty performing with all the people and dogs distracting her.

She warmed up well with "sit", "shake", "high five", and "what do you say?". Then...it was time for "Bang! Bang!". As was explained to the crowd...sometimes there's a 'death' and sometimes it's just a hostage crisis (Mac doesn't always get her head on the ground but she freezes well).

Mac got a 'C-' for the way she performed 'Bang! Bang' but an 'A+' for being the cutest dog there. She won a green gift bag full of a $25 gift card to the neighborhood pizza restaurant, 2 free Chick-fil-a sandwiches, a tennis ball, rope toy, glow-in-the-dark lead, chewy bone, a bank coffee mug, and some squeaky toys for which she had no interest & will donate to her dog cousins.

Way to go Mac...we knew you could win!

Sniffing Spring Air

Mac's favorite thing is to be outside...second best is to lie by the front door when it is open and the screen door is closed and in slowly pours the wonderful, fresh scent of spring.

On this day, she discovered an open window and fell asleep keeping watch over the back garden and alleyway behind our house. We know that with Mac on duty...all is well.

Spring Walk through the Neighborhood

The azaleas are in full bloom in Mac's neighborhood.

This neighbor's azaleas are flowing through the fence...prettier than Mac has ever seen.

Mac says, "Follow me down the sidewalk as we enjoy this beautiful Arkansas spring!"

Mac is looking forward to drinking out of the neighborhood doggie water fountain.

Spring Days

Mac begs to be outside at all times. She loves to sit by an open door or window...just sniffing the breeze.

Mac in the Snow!!!!

Mac, still wet from her last romp in the snow, begging me to please let her outside again. Her boy lobbed snow balls, and she would catch them in her mouth. She had a bit of trouble, however, understanding why the snow ball would disappear.

Rainy Season

Ball...anyone?

It has been the rainiest weather in Arkansas since 100 years ago. It has rained every day for about 2 months. I think we are finally coming out of it and are experiencing what we normally know as our awesome fall Arkansas weather!

All that was to say that my ball has been very lonely. Yesterday I took my first walk in many, many days. I am hopeful for some more beautiful days to come. The sun is shining, and I can see blue skies. A long walk may be caling me soon!

Mac Enjoys the Summer Garden

Mac enjoys the summer flowers...Zinnias, Purple Coneflowers, and Black-Eyed Susans.

She enjoys smelling them and sometimes...taking a bite or two.

Mostly, however, she just hopes for a game of chasing and playing catch with her ball!

Some Art Inspired by Mac

Mac came into our family during some challenging changes. She will always represent much love and hope for the future. She is such a family dog and loves each person as much as the next. Her hugs are very real and big. She truly is 'love with fur'.
This journal sketch was done when Mac was still a pup. I know she can't fit on that ottoman with so much room to spare any more!

Late Last Night

Mac the Labradoodle is far too humble to share the story of late last night. I, her mother will tell the tale because Mac is definitely the heroine, and she would never brag on herself.

Mac lives in a typical mid-town historic neighborhood which is quiet and lovely and wonderful. However, there are times when the 'visitors' who wander through are not so wonderful. Such was the case late last night.

I was sitting on my enclosed front porch enjoying the peaceful sounds of summer. When, suddenly, Mac jumped to her feet and sounded an alarm which startled me. I ran inside to tell my husband because I was fearful that an intruder had entered our front garden.

We opened the porch's door so Mac could run outside to investigate further. Immediately, she made her way to the farthest corner of the picket fence and began barking at something three houses down the street.

This is Mac's turf...Mac's street, and she takes her job very seriously.

A man was seen running from a car parked in the neighbor's driveway to a car lurking on the road with no headlights. The parked car had clearly been vandalized.

We called the police because we were afraid to awaken our neighbor at 12:30 a.m.

Mac was the hero. Mac scared away the criminals, and the story ended happily.

I don't think they will be back anytime soon.

Not if Mac has anything to say about it!

Road Trip!

Here I am on the road to pick up my boy from Airborne School in Georgia. After that, our family is headed toward South Carolina to visit family and have fun in the country!

More Mac in the Country

I am enjoying a lovely visit in the country with relatives. For a city dog such as myself, all this freedom is intoxicating! I'm a bit afraid of the automatic garden sprinklers, but I think I will adjust to that. There are wild turkeys, foxes, deer, stray dogs, and a huge hawk guarding the back pasture.

My mother has been intoduced to fire ants...yikes. We are all hoping to not get poison ivy, fleas, and ticks (the downside to country living).

Mac Visits Her Country Cousin

Scarlett invites Mac to have a "sit" on the comfy couch.
A friendly sniff with my country cousin.
Okay...that's enough.
I am in South Carolina visiting the country cousin that I did not know I had! There are many new smells, and I am enjoying the freedom to run around the property!

Mac's Porch

On a perfect spring morning like today, this is where I live...on the front porch.

I am lying on the front door's threshold looking toward the door which leads to the front garden.

The concrete floor is cool...and so am I.

It's a great day for sniffing, listening to the birds, and alerting my people to any visitors that may appear.
